The main focus of the department is research into material development. The activities include:
- The characterisation of physical properties of raw materials, compounds and vulcanisates
- Rheological behavior of rubber mixes
Special research domains are the development of use-oriented rubber compounds and TPVs as well as surface modifications of elastomers, polymers or metals by means of plasma activation and polymerization at atmospheric pressure.
