Research in this department centers on elucidating the connection between the microscopic structure and the macroscopic properties of rubber mixes and crosslinked reinforced rubber systems. Special emphasis focuses on advanced fundamental research of the physical properties of elastomers and the implementation of results in micro-structure based models. The main research topics of this department are:

Contact mechanics and friction

  • Theory of rubber friction
